Fantasy stories are known for their amazing mythical creatures and beasts, like dragons. This week, readers will continue their study of fantasy stories by opening their eyes to the metaphors inside these stories. Sure, our characters are battling dragons....but what do those dragons really represent? After we learn to identify the metaphors authors employ, we'll practice finding real world lessons from fantastical characters.
In writing, we'll wrap up our amazing westward expansion reports this week. In just two final days of revisions, we'll improve our work by embedding an abundance of our thoughts about the facts we've learned and ramping up our transitions to make them more meaningful. After a quick publishing session, fasten your seatbelt because this wagon train is taking off with another piece of writing faster than you can say "conestoga!" We'll conclude our writing week with an intensive look at effective introductions. On Monday, we'll launch a new unit of word study! The Quizlet is ready for our word experts to impress Mrs. Nash with their speed and knowledge. :) The quiz for this set of words will be scheduled for next week. More info coming later in the week. Please be sure to mark your calendars! Kernan Middle School will host Chets Creek families for an information session on the evening of February 13th. I'll be there as a KMS parent, and I hope to see all our CCE families that are zoned for KMS there, too. Please be sure not to overlook this school in your search for middle school options. Finally, if you're an IGer and haven't followed @nashela5 yet, please check us out! It's a great way to sneak a peek into your child's ELA life. (While you're on IG, be sure to follow @onceacreeker!) Have a great week everyone!
